Komako is a self-contained, self-catering cottage located in Mapua, Nelson, Aotearoa (New Zealand). The cottage is found in a mature garden on a 1.3 acre property. The cottage is completely private, giving you the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful natural environment and experience a sense of seclusion while taking in the natural ambience of the property and surrounding area.


Komako is built on a sheltered knoll overlooking the beautiful Waimea Estuary. The Richmond Ranges lie to the east, Mt Arthur to the west, and Tasman Bay to the north, giving every window in the cottage an uninterrupted skyline view either north, south, east or west .

The cottage is architect designed with a bedroom, ensuite bathroom and an open living and dining area that spills out onto the deck. It also boasts a full kitchen and pantry bursting with flavours; all the condiments you will need to make yourself delicious dinners from the wide selection of fresh local produce readily available close by in the Mapua/ Moutere area.

One such place is the Mapua wharf, a five minute walk takes you to an area where you can buy smoked fish, gourmet supplies from the local deli and local wines, olive oil, and fruits from the orchards of the area.

Should you feel like a meal out, you can dine at Flax restaurant on the Mapua wharf or chose from any of the 5 other local restaurants. Nelson City is just a short 30 minute drive through some Nelson's wine making areas son city or 15 minutes to either Motueka or Richmond .

Your hosts; Robert and Elizabeth are available onsite to provide you with information about local food, wine, art, entertainment and attractions. Robert is also sometimes available for a personalised tour of the region
